Zabka Named New Elgin Postmaster

The search for a new postmaster to oversee duties at the Elgin Post Office is over.
Five months following the announcement that Postmaster Sandy Kerkman was retiring, the U.S. Postal Service has hired a familiar face to fill the position.
Sandy Zabka of Petersburg was chosen to fill the vacancy. She’s familiar to Elgin residents, having served as an interim postmaster following Kerkman’s announcement back in November.
Zabka, a graduate of Pope John Central Catholic XXIII, was notified of the decision last week by Dawn Bayer, USPS manager of Post Office Operations based out of Lincoln. Zabka accepted the offer on Monday, March 31.
Zabka has spent the past 17 years working for the USPS, most recently as postmaster at Meadow Grove. Prior to that she did work in Oakdale.
