Wolfpack Volleyball Awards Handed Out

“The 2016 Wolfpack volleyball season, definitely is one for the books and memories,” said Wolfpack Head Coach Tina Thiele-Blecher at Sunday night’s awards banquet.
Numerous awards were presented at the banquet held at Elgin High School.
“Overall the season went well with winning records for both squads, the JV ended 8-6 and C-team 6-4. During the JV tournament in Verdigre team A went 7-1 and team B went 6-2.  The C-team also received 3rd in the Neligh tournament.  Throughout the year the girls made strides to improve both individually and as a team. Nice work ladies!
Recognized for their contributions during the year were student managers’ Skylar Reestman, Jeslynn Beckman, Ally Selting and Kirsten Krebs.

As a team, the Norfolk Daily News rated Elgin Public-Pope John first in Class D all area, and The Omaha World Herald rated EPPJ third in Class D-1.

Records broken
Thiele-Blecher said a number of Wolfpack records were broken this year. Among them were:
• Calli Krebs has the most ace serves in a 3 set match with 7.
• Liz Selting has the Most Ace Serves in a Career with 141.
• Liz Selting has the most attacks in a Season (731) and in a Career with 2,314.
• Liz Selting broke her own record of kills in a season with 375 and also has the kills in a career with 1101.
• Baylee Wemhoff has most sets in a 5 set game with 102 against North Central and she has the most sets in one season with 1304 plus in a career with 3937.
• Baylee also broke the record for most assists in a game, a 4 setter with 30.
• Baylee has the most assists in a season with 517 and in a career with 1252.
• Jordan Mescher took over many dig records as she set the record for a 3 set, 4 set, and 5 set match.  She had 30 in 5 sets and 28 in both a 3 set and 4 set game.
• Jordan also went on to have the most digs in a season with 355 and in a career with 751.

For reaching over 1200 assists in her career, Baylee Wemhoff received a volleyball. And, for having over 1000 kills, Liz Selting. She ended with 1101,
