Wolfpack Takes the ‘Bite’ Out of Bulldogs 52 to 20

CREIGHTON — They may not have been bigger, but they were strong and faster Friday night and, because of that, the Wolfpack won its first game of the season.

Jumping out to a 14 to 0 lead in the first quarter, Elgin Public-Pope John rolled to a 52 to 20 victory over Creighton. The Bulldogs, among the pre-season favorites in Class D-1, just didn’t seem to be able to find the answers to solving the Wolfpack’s defense. Then, in the second half, when they attempted to make it a game, they couldn’t keep the Wolfpack out of the endzone.

“Our team played very well,” Coach Carlie Wells said Friday night after the game. “Our line on both sides of the ball did what we needed to do to win.”
