Wolfpack Takes Fourth at Class C State Meet

LINCOLN — Conditions were cold, wet and windy for the Class C State Golf Tournament last week — ideal for an Elgin Public-Pope John squad who had played in such weather for much of the season.
The Wolfpack, coached by Jake Sladky, capped a magnificent run with a fourth place finish at the state tournament, besting all but three teams in the 15-team field.
Competing at Highlands Golf Course in Lincoln, the Wolfpack posted a team score of 670 for the 36-hole tournament. Gibbon, who bested the Wolfpack one week earlier at the district tournament, was crowned state champions with a team score of 651. Hastings St. Cecilia was just one stroke back at 652 followed by Laurel-Concord 657.
