Wolfpack Pound Plainview in Football Action Last Week

ELGIN — Sometimes football can become a game of numbers. On Saturday afternoon against the Plainview Pirates, with a homecoming crowd looking on, Elgin Public-Pope John had all the ‘numbers’ in posting a 72 to 8 victory.
Just which numbers come to mind?
The number ‘one’. One was the number of plays it took for the Wolfpack to turn the ball over on an interception at the start of the game. One was also the number of plays it took for the Wolfpack to score when they got the ball back as Austin Heying took a pitch from quarterback Ross Schindler and outraced the Pirates 65 yards to the endzone for the game’s first touchdown.
Then there’s the number ‘five.’ That’s the number of plays it tok to score the game’s second touchdown as Schindler capped a five-play, 53-yard scoring drive with a 41-yard touchdown run.
