Wolfpack netters to open season at Nebraska State Fair

Is it too early to talk about volleyball?
The Wolfpack varsity volleyball team learned Monday that they will be starting the 2017 season earlier than they anticipated. The team has been selected to play in two Jamboree matches in the Bill Marshall Volleyball Classic in Grand Island at the Nebraska State Fair.
Their two matches will be on Saturday, Aug. 26, first against Diller-Odell at 6:15 p.m., then they will face Giltner at 7:30 p.m. Diller-Odell posted a 31-3 record last season, reaching the Class C-2 finals before losing to state champion Crofton. Giltner won back-to-back state championships in 2013-2014.
Making the announcement was EPS Athletic Director Michael Becker.
Last year the Wolfpack had their best season under Coach Tina Thiele-Blecher, qualifying for the state tournament and finishing third in Class D-1 with a 28-5 record. The team returns a strong nucleus of players led by Nicki Payne, Ally Wemhoff, Grace Henn, Paige Meis and Lydia Behnk.
