Wolfpack Netters Drop Matches at NVC, Sub-District

O’NEILL — Having received a forfeit over Santee in the opening round of the NVC Volleyball Tournament, Elgin Public-Pope John faced O’Neill St. Mary’s Monday night, Oct. 24.

Each game was a battle as the Wolfpack were defeated by the scores of 23-25, 17-25 and 24-26.

The match could have gone either way as the Wolfpack put up a valiant effort, one of their best of the season.

The numbers tell the story. The Wolfpack had 28 kills in the match, one of their best team totals this season. Leading the way was Marin Heithoff with eight kills, Ashley Bode had seven followed by Chelsi Mescher with five, Stephanie Bode and Lauren Selting each had three, Courtney Schumacher and Brea Schrage each had one.

Setting up the hitters, Wolfpack setters recorded 24 set assists. Selting had a team-high nine set assists, Mescher added seven and Stephanie Bode produced four.

Ashley Bode led servers with three ace serves, Mescher recorded one.

Senior Carey Eischeid was one of three players in double figures in digs. She had 18 followed by Schrage with 13, Mescher added 11 and Selting was credited with nine.

Mescher was credited with the team’s only solo block.

Stephanie Bode had a team-high five tips followed by Heithoff with four, Mescher added three, Selting had two while Schrage and Ashley Bode each had one.

Leading the team in points was Ashley Bode with nine, Selting had seven in the match.

Sub-District Action

O’Neill High School was the setting on Tuesday night, Nov. 1, for C2-8 sub-district volleyball action. The Wolfpack squared off against Ord and lost in three games.
