BASSETT — The Elgin Public-Pope John Wolfpack did something Monday they have never done before.
Placing second at the Highway 20 Golf Invitational, the Wolfpack shot their best team score ever — 327. Coach Jake Sladky’s team is playing their best golf of the season as they ready for district tournament to be held at Summerland Golf Course on May 17.
O’Neill won the invite with a team score of 304. They were led by Blake Bauer and Cody Belzer. Bauer was medalist with a 71, Belzer finished with a 73 to finish second.
Andrew Heithoff led the Wolfpack with a 76 to finish third. Other Wolfpack scores were Nick Heithoff 83, Tyler Childers 83, Preston Schrage 85 and Zach Baker.
Other team scores from the invite were Valentine 332, Ewing 339, North Central 343, Niobrara/Verdigre 348, Ainsworth 350, Neligh/Oakdale 367, West Holt 371, Orchard/Clearwater 396, West Boyd 1268 and Stuart 2052.
