NELIGH — Under nearly perfect conditions for golf (warm sunshine and little wind), Elgin Public-Pope John claimed the team title Wednesday at the Niobrara-Verdigre Golf Tournament.
Led by medalist Nick Heithoff who shot a 40/37 77, the Wolfpack posted a team score of 323. Second was Ewing with a score of 355 followed by West Boyd 360, Niobrara/Verdigre 365, Clearwater/Orchard 377, Neligh-Oaldale 386, Chambers/Wheeler Central 421, Crofton 489 and Santee (no team score).
Tyler Childers shot a 39/40 79 to place second. Other Wolfpack golfers who medaled were Andrew Heithoff, fourth, 39/42 81; Evan Parks, eighth, 41/45 86; and Kyle Heithoff, 10th, 41/45 86.
JV medalist was Wolfpack senior Preston Schrage who shot a 79. Two other Wolfpack JV players competed. Trent Hoefer shot a 45/45 90 and teammate Austin Starman finished with a 47/44 91.
