Wolfpack Girls Finish Second at NVC Basketball Tournament

ATKINSON — Leading for most of the second half, Elgin Public-Pope John saw their hopes of a conference championship vanish in the final seconds as O’Neill St. Mary’s claimed a 48 to 47 victory.

With two starters on the bench due to injuries, the Wolfpack turned in a fantastic performance, one noted by parents and fans who applauded their efforts as they had their photograph taken with the runner-up plaque after the game.

“The girls played a great game and just came up a little short,” Coach Randy Eisenhauer said. “The effort they showed tonight under our circumstances was tremendous. They should be very proud of what they accomplished in the NVC Tournament and hope to finish the season on a strong note.”
