STUART — Jasen Schafer scored 25 points and Hailey Paxton added 14 Friday night to propel Stuart to a 58 to 49 victory over Elgin Public-Pope John.
The Broncos, unbeaten at home this season, scored when they needed to, posting their 11th victory of the season.
The Wolfpack kept pace with the Broncos in the early going and trailed by just one point, 18 to 17, at intermission. Then, beginning in the third quarter and continuing the rest of the way, Stuart slowly began to pull away. In the second half, Stuart outscored the Wolfpack 40 to 32.
Schafer was a thorn in the Wolfpack’s side throughout the game. She connected on four three-pointers in the game. Then, when the Wolfpack attempted to take away the outside shot, she was able to elude the defense and connect on three two-pointers.
