Wolfpack Defeat Cyclones 14 to 0

ORCHARD — Opportunity knocked and the Elgin Public-Pope John Wolfpack answered Friday night as they earned their third victory of the season.

Two first quarter touchdowns were all the Wolfpack needed as they defeated Orchard/Clearwater 14 to 0 to improve their record to 3-2 entering the second half of the season.

This marks the first time this season the Wolfpack has been above .500. It is also the first time the team has posted a shutout.

“Defensively, our team played well,” Coach Carlie Wells said about the game. “I felt we flew to the ball and played aggressive. Overall, I feel our kids gave a great effort defensively.”

The Wolfpack defense limited the Cyclones to just 42 yards rushing on 23 carries. Orchard/Clearwater gained 172 yards through the air, but a costly interception and penalties kept them from getting into the endzone.
