STUART — It wasn’t supposed to be, but Tuesday’s Bronco Stampede proved to be the last tuneup for the Wolfpack track teams before heading to district competition.
Wolfpack athletescompeted at the track meet in Stuart under cool spring conditions, just one day before a late-spring snowstorm hit the area.
EPPJ had three athletes turn in gold-medal performances. Senior Marin Heithoff won the triple jump with a leap of 31-5.
On the boys side, junior Blake Schrage won the 300 meter hurdles in a time of 42.09 seconds. Teammate Zach Polk won the discus with a throw of 134-7.
No team scores were available at press time. Schools competing, in addition to EPPJ, were Stuart, West Holt, St. Mary’s, Niobrara/Verdigre, Ewing, North Central, Bloomfield and Cody-Kilgore.
Individual results were:
100 meter dash — 1. Bridget Schneider, SMH, 13.00 seconds; 4. Jill Schindler, EPPJ, 13.48
200 meter dash — 1. Amber Frerichs, NCH, 27.57 seconds; 3. Jill Schindler, EPPJ, 27.88.
400 meter dash — 1. Emily Kaup, SHS, 1:02.18
