Waterbury To Not Seek Re-Election To School Board

There will be at least one new face on the District #18 School Board as the deadline for incumbents to file for re-election has passed.
Former Board President Laurie Waterbury did not file for re-election, according to a spokesperson from the Antelope County Clerk’s office. Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. was the deadline for incumbents to file for re-election.
One incumbent who did beat the deadline was school board treasurer Stan Heithoff who filed for re-election on Tuesday.
He joins incumbents Steven Busteed and Doug Jones as candidates as well as challenger Michael Braband. Altogether, four candidates have filed for four open seats on the school board.
There were no new filings for Elgin City Council. Incumbents Jim Kittelson (Ward I) and Don Mackel (Ward II) previously filed for re-election.
