Urban A. Schrage
1926 — 2015
Urban A. Schrage, 89, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 9, 2015, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born March 15, 1926, in Elgin, Nebraska.
During the Korean War, Urb served in the 45th Division. Upon discharge, he returned to Oklahoma State University to complete his degree in Agricultural Sciences, and finish his college football career.
Urb moved to Salinas, CA in 1955 with his bride, Celine, to start his career in agriculture, which continued for more than 40 years in the Salinas Valley.
He was a long-time parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and a member of Sons In Retirement (SIR).
He loved reading and later became a docent at the Steinbeck Center. Urb also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, telling stories and talking about history. His Saturdays in the fall were dedicated to Oklahoma State football (Go Cowboys!).
Urb was always ready to travel, especially if it was a trip to Reno or Big Sur.
Urb was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Hubert, Clarence, Gilbert, Wilfred, Art and Al; sister, Philomena, and grandson, Tyler Ambrosini.
He is survived by his wife, Celine; three children, Greg (Linda), Linda (Ted) Wagner, Donna (Brian) Ambrosini, and grandchildren, Amy and Eric Wagner.
The family would like to thank all of the caregivers who took such wonderful care of our loving husband, father and grandfather.
Funeral Mass was held Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015, at Sacred Heart Church, 22 Stone St., Salinas, CA 93901.
Burial with military honors  followed at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 18200 Damian Way, Salinas, CA 93907.
