The Antelope County Board of Supervisors, on two separate and unanimous votes at Tuesday’s regular meeting, removed Antelope County Treasurer Sandy Knapp and Supervisor Harlan Brandt from their county offices.
Knapp plead guilty in April to one count of “use of public office to obtain financial gain” and was sentenced to pay a $500 fine.
Brandt plead no contest in March and was found guilty of “theft by deception”. He was ordered to pay the county restitution in the amount of $2,601.35 and is scheduled for sentencing later this month.
During Tuesday’s meeting, the supervisors appointed current treasurer’s office employee Deb Branstiter as interim treasurer and Supervisor Charlie Henery will oversee Brandt’s district and employees until a replacement has been decided.
