Tree/Compost Site to Remain Open Till November 14

On Monday night, the Elgin City Council extended the days the landfill can be used by residents wishing to clean up their property before winter sets in.

Towards the conclusion of Monday night’s meeting which lasted just short of 30 minutes, Council members were told the city tree site/compost has been busy with residents dumping leaves which is likely to continue for the next couple of weeks.

As a result, the Council passed a motion to keep the site open from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on November 4, 7, 11 and 14.

The other ‘big’ item on the agenda, discussion and possible action on Ordinance #618 regarding water and sewer rate increases was tabled.
