Tentative Q125 Schedule Announced

A three-day celebration packed full of memories which will last a lifetime. That’s going to be what Elgin residents, friends and family will remember about the upcoming Q125 Celebration slated for June 2014.
Approximately 30 persons, including members of the Q125 Committee, were given a preview of the upcoming celebration during a 90-minute program at the Elgin Community Center.
Using a power-point presentation, Alan Reicks walked community members through three days and nights of activities which will begin in the morning hours of June 20 and conclude under the stars two days later.
“We’re under a year out,” Reicks said, “we have contracts signed, a lot ‘set in stone.’ Some things may be added and some might not work out.”
“We’ve come a long ways and put together what was presented to us as ideas.”
So here’s the tentative schedule. Committee members emphasized this is only tentative and some things are subject to change in the months leading up to the event.
Friday, June 20
• Festivities will begin with a flag dedication/welcome home heroes program at the cemetery north of Elgin. Chairperson for the event, scheduled to get underway at 8:30 a.m., will be Gary Hoefer.
