The Elgin Chamber of Commerce/Community Club met last Monday with Vetch Days on their minds. With the majority of the group’s members wanting a carnival available for kids during the annual celebration, one 3-day time is an option for the event. Richards Amusements has contacted the Chamber with a contract making the days of June 22-24 the only dates available. This would make the Vetch Days celebration a Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday event. The committee will be working hard to make these days workable for all wishing to attend. More will be announced later.
Other items: Chili Cookoff will be held on Saturday, March 14 at the KC Hall. Donna Mackel is chair of the event. The Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled for Saturday, April 4 at the city park. Much discussion was held on an appropriate donation to the Elgin Area Community Foundation from the group. The item was tabled to next meeting.
