Supervisors Rescind Decision on Mill Bridge — For Now

The Mill Bridge in Neligh has received a ‘stay of execution’ from the Antelope County Board of Supervisors.

At their meeting held Tuesday, June 7, supervisors voted 7 to 0 to rescind a vote taken in May to remove the bridge and to allow for consider of other options for the structure.

The decision came after supervisors heard from representatives of the Nebraska State Historical Society. Bob Puschendorf said it was his opinion that supervisors had only two options to avoid an adverse ‘Effect.” They were: 1) restore the bridge so that it may be open to pedestrian traffic only or 2) return it to the way it was prior to flood waters destroying it in June 2010.
