Supervisors Approve Conditional Use Permits at April 6 Meeting

The Antelope County Board of Supervisors last week approved a conditional use (CU) permit which will allow the Thiele Dairy to expand in the future if they so choose.

The Supervisors voted seven to zero to accept the Antelope County Planning Commission’s recommendation, providing they first receive approval from the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality, to allow the Thiele Dairy to expand its existing animal units.

Bill Thiele told the Supervisors last Tuesday the dairy operation is currently milking about 950 head. However, with the conditional use permit, it will allow them to some day expand their operation to as many as 2,500 head.

He said there are no plans at the present to expand, but wants the dairy operation to have the opportunity to do so in the future.

The permit was one of nine permits approved during the course of the meeting.

Other permits were for permanent electric lines on 7-0 votes. They were approved for:

• Brian Hoffman — place an electric line underneath 863 Road in Ellsworth Township.

• Steve Pellatz — place an electric line underneath 859 Road in Ellsworth Township.

• Kester Brothers — place an electric line under 855 Road in Frenchtown Township.

• Fred Thiele — place an electric line underneath 855 Road in Frenchtown Township.

• Alhers Sons — place an electric line underneath 855 Road in Frenchtown Township.
