STUART — Victory was in the grasp of the Wolfpack boys basketball team Tuesday night, then it slipped away in the final minute as Stuart defeated the Wolfpack 42 to 38.
Playing their first round NVC Tournament game on their home court, the Broncos outscored the Wolfpack four to zero in the game’s final minute to bounce the Wolfpack out of the tournament.
Coach Mark Schmitt said the teams were tied with one minute left in the game. The Wolfpack committed turnovers on their final three possessions of the game as Stuart pulled ahead to stay.
It was a tale of two halves as the Wolfpack outplayed the Broncos and led 24 to 22 at halftime. However, Stuart won the final two quarters by outscoring the Wolfpack 20 to 14 to earn the victory.
