Elgin High School and Pope John XXIII Central Catholic speech teams earned well-deserved honors at the D2 State Speech Competition held today (Thursday, March 24) in Kearney. The highest finish of the day was an impressive 1st place finish in Duet Acting by EPS’s Kenny Bush and Alois Warner. Competing at the University of Nebraska-Kearney campus, all three OID teams (2 from EPS, 1 from PJCC) finished well also. The Pope John OID team consisting of Lexie Heithoff, Lizzie Mlnarik, Maria Bartak, Terri Seier and Whitney Walker placed second; Elgin Public’s OID of Dylan Widger, Kira Widger, Leslie Linares, Morgan Carpenter and Lydia Behnk finished fifth; and the EPS OID team of Kenny Bush, Alois Warner, Zoey Bergman, Taya Voborny and Jaime Hoefer finished seventh.
