Wolfpack To Compete Today At District Wrestling Tournament

PENDER — Wolfpack wrestlers will put it all on the line this weekend, competing for an opportunity to go to the State Wrestling Tournament.
Senior Brett Kinney and underclassmen Andrew Fangman and Geoffrey Carr and will be competing, starting Friday, Feb. 14, at the District D-2 Wrestling Tournament to be held at Pender High School.
Fangman leads the Wolfpack in wins with 29, closely followed by Kinney with 25 victories during the season. Both wrestlers will be seeking to return to Omaha for the state wrestling tournament. Fangman qualified last year and Kinney made his trip to state in 2012.
Geoffrey Carr will be competing in his first district tournament, competing at 113 pounds.
Other schools competing in the tournament will be Arcadia-Loup City, Archbishop Bergan, Clearwater/Orchard, Elkhorn Valley, Guardian Angels Central Catholic, Humphrey St. Francis/Lindsay Holy Family, Howells-Dodge, Neligh-Oakdale, North Central, Osmond, Pender, Plainview, Randolph, Scribner-Snyder, O’Neill St. Mary’s, Atkinson West Holt and Winside.
The finals will be Saturday afternoon, Feb. 15. Go Wolfpack!
