Wolfpack Sweeps Niobrara-Verdigre Netters

ELGIN — Playing their last home game in front of their fans, Michelle Bauer, Brieann Grosserode and Jessica Heithoff made it a night they will never forget as they helped lead the Wolfpack to a 25-12, 25-18 and 25-15 victory over Niobrara-Verdigre.

The victory improved their record to 11-12 heading into the latter stages of the season. On this night everything seemed to click for the Wolfpack. They executed well on serve-receive, setters made good sets to hitters who responded with numerous kills.

In the first two games, the Cougars stayed close until late when the Wolfpack put the games away. Grosserode came off the bench late in the second game to produce two kills to sew up game two in the Wolfpack’s favor.

Bauer led the team with 13 kills at the net. She also had a team-high 16 digs, teammate Carey Eischeid had 14 digs. Heithoff led setters with 11 set assists, one more than Lauren Selting. Marin Heithoff had five kills in the match, followed by Chelsi Mescher with four, Grosserode, Ashley Bode and Selting each had two.

As a team, EPPJ produced nine ace serves. Bauer and Mescher had three apiece, Jessica Heithoff, Brea Schrage and Eischeid each had one. Bauer was credited with seven solo blocks, Bode had two.
