Wolfpack Place Eighth at State Golf Tournament

NORTH PLATTE — The Elgin Public-Pope John golf team finished eighth in the team standings at the Class D State Golf Tournament.

Playing at The Rivers Edge Golf Course, Wolfpack golfers finished with a team score of 704. Winning the tournament was North Platte St. Pat’s with a score of 658. Other team scores were Franklin 659, Ewing 662, Alma 672, Mullen 675, Potter-Dix 697, Heartland Lutheran 698, EPPJ 704, West Point CC 714, Pender 717, Neligh-Oakdale 722, Medicine Valley 729, Loup City 737, Friend 753 and Loomis 814.

Individually, Curtis Childers earned a state medal as he and two other golfers tied for sixth place, each shooting 157. Medalist was Salvador Molina Toledo of Heartland Lutheran who finished with a two-day score of 147. Ewing had two golfers who finished in the top 15, Chase Funk tied for 11th with a score of 159, teammate Philip Thramer was 13th with a score of 160. Scott Kester of Neligh-Oakdale finished 15th with a score of 163.

Other Wolfpack scores were Evan Parks 174, Zach Baker 181, Andrew Heithoff 192 and Brenden Henn 199.
