Wolfpack Football Team Has High Expectations

ELGIN — Just two days remain before the Elgin Public-Pope John Wolfpack football team takes the field for the 2011 season.

On Friday night the Wolfpack will begin the season at D-1 pre-season #1 Creighton. Coach Carlie Wells returns seven starters on offense and an equal number on defense from a team which posted a 7-3 record last season. Expectations are high that this year’s team could be even better than last year. “We should have a very strong team,” Wells said. “We have experience coming back from last season in most positions. I feel that if we can make the necessary adjustments and improvements, then we can have a good year.”

The seven returning starters from last year are Blake Anderson (RB/LB), Grant Beckman (E/LB), Tre Henkenius (OL/DL), Ryan Meis (LB), Evan Parks (DB/QB), Caleb Pelster (OL/DL), Drew Schindler (OL/DL), Nash Schindler (RB/LB), Lee Bartak (E/LB), Andrew Heithoff (E/LB), Nick Heithoff (QB/DB), Jared Seier (OL/DL) and Ross Schindler (QB/DB).
