Wolfpack Boys Top Plainview

ELGIN — The Wolfpack took the lead for good midway through the first quarter and rolled to a 48 to 31 victory over Plainview Friday night.
Playing in the friendly confines of St. Boniface gymnasium, the Wolfpack’s athleticism proved too much for the Pirates to overcome on this night.
The Wolfpack built a 24 to 13 lead by halftime. Senior Scott Moser opened the second quarter with back-to-back baskets, Austin Meis and Dylan Behnk found the mark too as the Wolfpack had success both inside and from the perimeter against the Pirates’ defense. Kyle Kallhoff completed an old-fashioned three-point play to wrap up scoring in the first half.
In the third quarter, three points from Meis and a trey from Kallhoff staked the Wolfpack to a 30 to 17 lead. In the quarter, Kallhoff had six points and Meis had five as EPPJ took an 18-point lead.
Meis started the fourth quarter with back-to-back field goals, then Liam Heithoff and Kyle Schumacher, both coming off the bench, closed out the game by combining to make four of four free throws.
Meis led the Wolfpack with 16 points. The Wolfpack pulled down 24 rebounds, led by Meis with seven.
The victory improved the Wolfpack’s record to 2-1.
