Wolfpack Boys Suffer First Loss Of Basketball Season

ELGIN — The Wolfpack boys basketball team started slow Friday night and fell to Niobrara/Verdigre 72 to 36 in NVC action.

The Cougars jumped out to a 29 to 13 lead in the first quarter as their fullcourt press caused problems for the Wolfpack. They then put the game away in the second quarter by outscoring the Wolfpack 20 to 2.

Leading the way for the Cougars was Cauy Drobny with 14 points, making seven of eight shots from the field. Other double-digit scorers for the Cougars were R. Bicketstaff with 12 points and Brady Pike with 10.

Senior Chad Bode led the Wolfpack with 14 points, teammates Kenny Bush and Hunter Reestman each had seven. Bode also led the team in rebounds with seven. Conor Ramold and Bush each dished out three assists.

The Wolfpack will seek to gain their first victory of the season Tuesday night when they host Neligh/Oakdale at the EHS gymnasium.
