16 and Under Girls Pick Up Two Wins
On June 12 Elgin traveled to Albion and shut them out 10-0. Hitting for Elgin were Whitney Walker with a double, Morgan Childers with three singles, Baylie Schiltmeyer with two singles, and Tor Fangman and  Ellie Heilhecker with a single each. Kayla Nelson pitched for Elgin. She struck out six and walked one.
Elgin traveled to Atkinson on June 14 and came away with a 9-6 victory. Elgin’s scoring came from being walked fifteen times. Kayla Nelson was the winning pitcher. She struck out six batters. After regulation Elgin scrimmaged Atkinson’s 18 and Under girls. Three innings were played and Elgin took a 0-12 loss. Kayla Nelson continued to pitch for Elgin. She had one strikeout and one walk. Next play for the 16 and Unders will be home games against Pierce on June 19 (too late for press time) and against O’Neill on June 21.
14 and Under Girls Win Two, Lose One
On June 11 Elgin traveled to Plainview for a double header. In the first game Elgin won 13-7. Getting hits for Elgin were Whitney Walker with a homerun and a double, Baylie Schiltmeyer with a double and two singles, Taylor Schumacher and Jordan Mescher with three singles each, Tor Fangman with two singles, and Morgan Childers and Gracie Bullock with a single each. Baylie Schiltmeyer handled the pitching duties for Elgin. She struck out ten and walked four. Elgin won the second game 23-11. Hitting for Elgin were Tor Fangman with two home runs, Baylie Schiltmeyer with a triple and four singles, Whitney Walker with a double, Katie Polk with two singles, and Morgan Childers, Ellie Heilhecker, and Taylor Schumacher with a single each. Katie Polk pitched for Elgin. She walked eight and struck out three. On June 12 Elgin traveled to Albion and suffered a 4-8 loss. Getting hits were Morgan Childers and Baylie Schiltmeyer with two singles each and Ellie Heilhecker with a single. Baylie Schiltmeyer pitched for Elgin. She walked four. Elgin hosted Pierce on June 19 (too late for press time) and O’Neill on June 21. The league tournament is June 22-24 in Pierce.
12 and Under Finish Regular Season
Elgin hosted Battle Creek on June 12 for its last game of the regular season. Battle Creek handed Elgin a 15-3 loss. Sydney Kerkman had Elgin’s only hit in the game with a single. Anna Heilhecker pitched for Elgin. She walked five and struck out three. On June 13 Elgin hosted Norfolk for an out of league double header. Elgin won both games. In the first game Elgin came away with a 14-12 win. Hitting for Elgin were Paige Meis with two singles and Grace Henn, Nicki Payne, Heather Bauer, Anna Heilhecker, and Kaylee Martinsen each with a single. Amy Nelson started pitching for Elgin. She struck out three and walked three. Anna Heilhecker came in to finish the game. She walked nine and struck out one. In the second game Elgin won 8-7. Getting hits for Elgin were Anna Heilhecker with two singles and Paige Meis and Heather Bauer with a single each. Amy Nelson pitched for Elgin. She walked three and struck out one. Elgin finished the regular season with a 4-2 record. The team will play in tournaments next weeked in Neligh.
