Crusaders Rally for 44 to 20 Victory over Elgin Eagles

ELGIN — On a windswept field, Pope John Central Catholic overcame a double-digit deficit to defeat Elgin High 44 to 20 Friday night.

The Crusaders overcame a 14-point deficit in the first quarter, scoring 38-unanswered points to boost their record to 4-1. The loss dropped Elgin’s record to 1-4.

Lady Crusaders Defeat Elgin in Three Sets

ELGIN — In a match which saw momentum bounce back and forth across the net, Pope John Central Catholic held off Elgin Thursday night by the scores of 21-25, 25-12 and 25-22.

EHS Netters Top St. Edward 

ELGIN — The Elgin Lady Eagles notched thheir sixth victory of the season Thursday night.

Facing St. Edward at the Pope John Triangular, Elgin won in straight sets by the scores of 25-19 and 25-23.

Cardinals Upend Lady Eagles in Five Sets

ELGIN — For the first two sets, Elgin was the dominant team. However, in Thursday night’s best-of-five match, O’Neill St. Mary’s came storming back to win the match 22-25, 18-25, 25-19, 25-23 and 15-5.

Lady Crusaders Drop Three at Chambers Tourney

CHAMBERS — Competing at the Chambers Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, Pope John Central Catholic dropped all three matches.

Against Humphrey High, Pope John fell by the scores of 25-16 and 25-19.
