If Elgin residents feel a little less money in their pockets in 2010, they may be able to look to Monday night to find the reason why.
At Monday night’s meeting of the Elgin City Council, action was taken to begin the necessary steps to raise water, sewer and garbage rates. The rates when passed by ordinance later this year, won’t go into effect until the first quarter of 2010.
