Senior ‘Sneak Day’ To Change

Juniors at Elgin High School will have an opportunity this summer to “expand their horizons” following action taken Wednesday night by the District #18 Board of Education.
The board approved a proposal put forth by the administration to allow juniors to participate in an educational field trip which would take them to Washington, D.C., and New York City. In approving the trip, the board eliminated the long-established ‘senior sneak.’
Superintendent Dan Polk said he hopes to make the junior educational field trip an annual event which the students will look forward to in much the same way they have for ‘senior sneak.’
Polk said he is in the process of putting together the trip, working with travel agencies to find the best deal. The plan would be for the trip to take place sometime after school lets out for the summer, but before events such as Boys/Girls State and the annual Vetch Days celebration.
