The District #18 Board of Education will hold their regular monthly meeting on Thursday, Jan. 10.
The meeting will be held in the distance learning room at the high school and is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
The first part of the meeting will feature the filling of a two-year term on the school board. Since only two candidates ran for three spots on the board, a position is open. At Thursday night’s meeting, the board will consider appointing Stan Heithoff, to fill a two-year term. Originally, he had not sought to run for re-election. If approved, Heithoff will serve two years and the seat on the board will be up for election in 2014.
Afterwards, the board will reorganize for the coming year. That will include legal designations for bank, newspaper, bus inspector, official financial agent and non-discrimination officer.
There are just two items on the action agenda. They are:
• Second reading of a required SPED policy
• Amendment to a negotiated agreement
• Senior Sneak
• Recognize the Elgin Education Association as the official bargaining unit for the certified staff
Thursday night’s meeting is open to the public.
