School board approves Eagles’ Nest shade

Meeting last week, the District #18 Board of Education approved a project to provide some relief from hot conditions at the Eagle’s Nest.
Having discussed it previously, the board decided to approve a 24’X 40’ hip shade to extend over a portion of the “Nest” located on the east side of the high school building.
The shade will be purchased from Crouch Recreation. The name “Crouch” should be familiar as former Heisman Trophy Winner Eric Crouch owns the business. The cost of the shade comes to $7,170.
Plans are for Schmitt Construction to install the shade at a cost of $6,500, several thousand less than it would have cost to have Crouch Recreation hire someone to put it up.
Right now, it appears the shade will be left up throughout the year as it is guaranteed to handle high winds.
