Rosamond Klein Celebrates 100th Birthday

More than 100 relatives and friends attended an Open House for Rosamond (Spieker) Klein’s 100th Birthday celebration on Saturday afternoon, July 12, at the Elgin Community Center.  Before the open house, a family noon luncheon was held. Special guests attending were Rosamond’s brother, Leroy Spieker of Fremont and two sisters,  Florence Luettel  who lives at the Good Samaritan Home in Albion,  and Linda Buelt from Elgin. Rosamond has two other living brothers, Fred Spieker and Bob Spieker.  Five of her brothers and sisters are deceased.
A special moment from the afternoon was when her sister Florence (age 97) arrived and the two got to visit after not seeing each other for more than two years.
Rosamond, the oldest sibling in her family, has lived much of her life in Petersburg.  She is the mother of Dolly (Gale) Schindler of Elgin, Harold (Sharon) Klein of Neligh, Jerry Klein of Norfolk and Walt Klein of Petersburg.  She turned 100 years old on Tuesday, July 15, 2014.
