Robert D. Reicks, 79 of Elgin, IL, passed away Monday, July 29, 2013 at the Manor Care Nursing Home in Elgin, IL.
A Memorial Mass was held Saturday, August 3, 2013 at St. Boniface Church in Elgin, NE with Rev. Ross Burkhalter officiating. Inurnment followed in the parish cemetery.
Robert Dale Reicks, was born March 2, 1934 to Henry and Alfreda (Ottele) Reicks. He lived on a farm southeast of Elgin, NE for several years and moved with his family to Elgin, NE in 1943, attending school at rural schools and St. Boniface School.
Bob spent a good share of his adult life living in Elgin, Illinois, working for Illinois Tool Works for 34 years, never missing a day of work. He married his best friend and soul mate of 35 years, Penny Shields, on November 9, 2007.
Together they raised six boys and one girl.
He was a devoted father and husband. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and watching old westerns and the new shows with “The Turtle Man” on TV.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Connie and son Michael; and a sister Sharon Sehi.
He is survived by his wife Penny of Elgin, IL; sons: Michael, Travis, Chris (Danielle), Robert, Joseph (Stephanie), Frank (Miranda); daughter: Heidi (Robbie); 17 grandchildren; brother Roland (Gladys) Reicks of Elgin, NE; brother-in-law Art Sehi of Oakdale, NE; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
