Riverside Hands Wolfpack First Loss

Sometimes the best team doesn’t always win. One can make that argument about Tuesday night’s match against Riverside as the Chargers handed the Wolfpack their first loss of the season.
Riverside won 25-20, 16-25 and 25-18, dashing the Wolfpack’s hopes for an unbeaten season.
What happened?
The Wolfpack struggled to dig Riverside’s attacks. They had 15 dig errors as opposed to successful digs. In contrast, Riverside was just 25 of 38 in digs.
Another key statistic in the match was serve receive. The Wolfpack had 14 serve receive errors in the match. MaxPreps showed Riverside with just one serve receive error.
For the match, Elizabeth Selting and Amy Nelson tied for the team-high in kills with 12 apiece, Grace Henn had five followed by Paige Meis with three and Baylee Wemhoff had one. Riverside was led by M. Walkowiak with 11.
Riverside had 10 ace serves in the match, eight more than the Wolfpack. Baylee Wemhoff and Selting each had one ace serve.
Nelson, Selting, Nicki Payne and Henn each had one solo block.
Jordan Mescher led EPPJ with nine digs.
Baylee Wemhoff had 16 set assists in the match, Ally Wemhoff had nine, Payne added seven and Selting had one. Baylee Wiaschin led Riverside with 28.
Mescher had a team-high 14 in serve receive, Selting had 10, Baylee Wemhoff added five while Calli Krebs and Payne each had four and Meis added two.
