Funeral services for Rita Funk, age 92, of Ewing, NE were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 2, 2018 at St. John the Baptist Church in rural Clearwater with Father John Norman and Father James Kramper, officiating.
Music was provided by St. John’s Choir and Julie Weigum.  Burial was in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in rural Clearwater, NE.
Pallbearers were Travis Funk, Nate Funk, Paul Peterson, Chris Peterson, Kray Funk, Chase Funk, Derek Funk, Marcus Leichner, and Michael Tiedeman.  Honorary Pallbearers were her grand daughters.
Visitation was from 6:00 – 8:15 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2018 at St. John the Baptist Church in rural Clearwater with 8:15 p.m. Rosary at the church.
Rita passed away October 29, 2018 at Community Pride Care Center in Battle Creek surrounded by her family.

Rita Elizabeth (Baum) Funk was born February 26, 1926 on a farm in rural Elgin, Nebraska.
She attended St. Boniface School in Elgin and graduated from St. Boniface High School in 1944.  After high school she attended Commercial Extension Business School in Omaha.
On January 26, 1948, she was united in marriage to Edward J. Funk.  They had 12 children together and made their home on a farm south of Ewing.  Edward passed away suddenly in 1972. Rita stayed on the farm until she moved into the Community Pride Care Center in Battle Creek in 2013.
Rita was a member of St. John the Baptist Church of rural Clearwater and active in Christian Mothers.  She was a wonderful cook and guests were always welcome around her kitchen table.  She enjoyed gardening and canning.  Rita loved playing cards, BINGO, and watching sports and game shows on TV.
Rita is survived by her children:  Rose (John) Weber, Edward L. Funk, Gary (Suzann) Funk, Pete (Karen) Funk, Frank (Melanie) Funk, Marcia Leichner, Lois (Todd) Peterson, Tom Funk, 17 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Funk; children:  Sandra Funk, Judy Funk, Paul Funk, Mark Funk; parents Peter and Anna Baum, and by her six brothers and three sisters.
