Property Owners To Be Asked For Input On Possible Street Projects

Property owners will be contacted, by letter, to the time and place of the meeting. In past paving projects, property owners have been assessed the costs, to be paid over a number of years, of the first 10 feet in front of their property, the City paying the costs for the remainder of the street.
The discussion came about during the public hearing for the City’s One & Six Year Street Plan. City Engineer John Zwingman said the one year plan is maintenance only (armor coating and crack sealing). To that end, the City will be seeking bids on 6,500 gallons of armor coating to be applied sometime this summer. That amount, Street Superintendent Donnie Poulsen, Jr. said, should cover 10 city blocks.
