September 6,  2011

The Elgin City Council met in regular session on Tuesday September 6,  2011,  at 7:30 p.m.,  pursuant to posted notice.  Mayor Schmitt called the meeting to order,  and announced the location of the Open Meeting Act.  Council members present were Shirley Nissen,  Don Mackel and Jim Kittelson.   Kenny Jochum was absent.

• Reject all bids received for the fire storage building with plans to rebid the project in the spring with a start date of May 1,  2012

• Allowing Central Valley Ag to exceed over the property line by 6 feet subject to easement

• Enter into close session at 8:40 p.m. for the prevention of needless injury to the reputation of individuals

• Reconvened in Open Session at 8:55 p.m.

• 3% wage increase for City Maintenance Personnel and the City Clerk with health insurance to remain the same

Discussions were held:

• Quick Claim Deed for a portion of Plantation Street

• Results of complete survey of Plantation Street was not received

• Purchasing Picnic Tables tabled until October meeting

• Report from tree board regarding overhanging trees on the street and sidewalks has not been completed yet

• Police Report from Sheriff Moore

• Household Hazardous Waste to be held in the spring of 2012

• Selling of old loader and patrol car on Big Iron

• Moving the cement pile to Pollock Redi Mix

• Trees trimmed at Library

• Jack Hammer for Bobcat

• Meeting was adjourned at 9:05 p.m.
