The Elgin City Council met in regular session on Monday, April 4, 2016 at 7:30 p.m., pursuant to posted notice. Mayor Schmitt called the meeting to order, and announced the location of the Open Meeting Act.
Councilmen present were Jim Kittelson, Duane Miller, Don Mackel and Mike Dvorak.

• Accept the lowest bid of $370,402.52 from Sargent Drilling for construction of the new well
• Constructing the well house out of poured concrete walls with no paint added
• Agreement with St. Boniface Ball Diamond Association for use of the ball field
• Agreement with Justin Reestman/Elgin Men’s softball team for use of the ball field
• Replace the 4” sewer line on Elm Street with an 8” line
• Meis and Sons to tap into the sewer line
• Renewal of Fire Pak with Jones Insurance Agency-with agency Kathy Volk
• Building the new storage shed on the City lot west of the pool
• Sales Tax Funds to EVFD for repairs to the forestry pumper truck
• Lydia Behnk as full time lifeguard upon obtaining her certification
• Vacation Policy for employee handbook
• Mailing the Community surveys
• Purchasing 6 new picnic tables
• Holding a community cleanup day in May
• Building Permits:
Discussions were held on:
• Replacing the water lines along Highway 14
• Highway 14 improvements by NDOR and meeting with them on Wednesday
• Proposed extension of water line to Sterling Heights Subdivision
• Returning Lots 1 and 6 to Niewohners with a Quick claim deed
• Developing alleys at the new well site
• Problem with overhanging trees
• Making a list of concrete streets and alleys in need of work
• Non-working water meters
• Flushing fire hydrants on Tuesday, April 12th
• Intersection of Elm and Highway 14
• Needed repairs to downtown sidewalks, curbs and gutters
• Bridge to sewer plant
• Drainage ditch work
Next regular meeting will be held on Monday, May 2, 2016 at 7:30 p.m.
