The Elgin City Council met in regular session on Monday, December 5, 2011, at 7:30 p.m., pursuant to posted notice.  Mayor Schmitt called the meeting to order, and announced the location of the Open Meeting Act.  Council members present were Shirley Nissen, Kenny Jochum, Jim Kittelson and Don Mackel.

• Adjourn the regular meeting and open the Reorganizational Meeting

• Signing contract with Maguire Iron to clean water tower

Discussions were held:

• Plantation Street issue tabled until next month

• Legislative updates tabled until next month

• Reviewed the 2010-2011 audit

• Changing the employee manual regarding vacation carryover days

• Mayor signed the Certification of City Street Superintendent for 2011

• Repair of water leaks

• Snow removal and cars parked on streets during snow removal

• The sale of the hand gun to Sheriff Moore

• Returning the handgun by Officer Totten

• Sheriff Moore has title for abandoned vehicle

• Installing of drains on Bowen Street

• Location of water line for Perry Subdivision

• Missing street signs

• Deadline for incumbents to file is February 15, 2012

• Deadline for non-incumbents to file is March 1, 2012

• Meeting was adjourned at 8:25 p.m.
