ELGIN PUBLIC SCHOOL BOARD
Special January Meeting

President Waterbury called the special January 2012 Meeting to order at 5:45 p.m. Board members present were Ryan Reestman, Steve Heithoff, Kim Wells, Laurie Waterbury, Stan Heithoff and Bob Hoefer. Also present were Principal Adam Patrick, Marcia Herring of the NASB, Sharon Endorf (NASB Field Consultant), and Dennis Morgan.
President Waterbury led the “Pledge of Allegiance.” Waterbury reminded everyone that a copy of the Nebraska Open Meetings Law was posted in the meeting room.
School board meeting notice complied with Meeting Notice Policy #204.07.
Steve Heithoff motioned and Kim Wells second to approve the Agenda. Motion carried, vote 6-0.
The school board narrowed down the interview questions for the Supt. search and will finalize selection at their February 8th meeting.
The board held a discussion on other items regarding the Supt. search. A timeline was reviewed for Supt. interviews scheduled on Feb. 14 and Feb. 15, 2012. Current Supt. compensation package and statewide Supt. salary surveys of 12 similar school districts were reviewed. Current Supt. contract was reviewed and the school district will offer a contract for Supt. position only. The board chose certified staff, classified staff, and community members to be part of the interview process.
The 2012 school board goals were reviewed.
The next meeting with NASB will be February 8, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. with the regular board meeting at 8:00 PM at the EPS Distance Learning Room.
Ryan Reestman motioned and Stan Heithoff second to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried, vote 6-0. The meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
