PJCC Bringing Home Medals At Speech Meets

img_9036-3-col-colorThe Pope John XXIII Speech Team has been busy practicing and accumulating medals during two recent speech meets.

SATURDAY

On Saturday, February 28th, the team competed at their own Pope John Invitational Speech Meet.  Finishing in first place was Elgin Public High School, second Place – Neligh Oakdale High School and third – Pope John.
Other schools attending were Lindsay Holy Family, Riverside, Spalding Academy, Newman Grove and Wheeler Central. Pope John results were:
First Place: Informative Speaking – Marie Meis
Second Place: Brody Hupp – Informative Speaking
Second Place:  OID – Shantel Preister, Erin Beckman, Emily Seier, Zach Eischeid and Morgan Childers,
Second Place: Persuasive Speaking – Lexie Heithoff.
Third Place: OID  – Scott Moser, Terri Seier, Lexie Heithoff, Maria Bartak and Karissa Dicke
Third Place: Informative Speaking – Karissa Dicke
Fourth Place: Duet Acting – Sydney Kerkman and Maddie Dilly
Sixth Place: Persuasive Speaking – Terri Seier

MONDAY

On Monday, March 2, PJCC hosted the Niobrara Valley Conference East Speech Competition.
Clearwater-Orchard won the team competition, finishing second was Elgin Public. Pope John Central Catholic finished sixth in the competition. Other schools competing Monday were Ewing, Niobrara, Verdigre, Elkhorn Valley and Neligh-Oakdale.
PJCC medalists were:
Serious Prose: Seventh — Terri Seier
Persuasive Speaking: Fourth — Lexie Heithoff
Informative: Third — Marie Meis
OID: Third — Morgan Childers, Zach Eischeid, Emily Seier, Erin Beckman and Shantel Preister
Extemporaneous: Fourth — Brody Hupp
