O’NEILL — An eight-point run right before the end of the first half gave Plainview an edge which they used to defeat Elgin Public-Pope John 66 to 55 at the C2-8 Subdistrict.
A bucket by Chad Bode tied the score at 30-all. Plainview (5-17) then scored eight unanswered points in the final 80 seconds to go up 38 to 30 at halftime.
The lead ballooned to 14 points in the fourth quarter. The Wolfpack mounted a comeback, cutting the deficit to seven points with three minutes to play. The Wolfpack managed just two points the rest of the way.
Seth Schumacher led EPPJ with 14 points, Regan Kerkman had 11. The loss ends the Wolfpack’s season. They finished with a 7-15 record.
