NORFOLK — Down the stretch, the Dark team made their shots when they needed to to claim a 60 to 53 victory in the annual Northeast Nebraska All-Star Girls Basketball Game.
Competing against each other for years, Elgin Public-Pope John’s Jenna Parks teamed up with St. Mary’s Sydney Hupp and Riley Sibbel, along with Dawn Klabenes of Chambers/Wheeler Central to get the job done.
With the outcome of the game still in doubt with less than three minutes to play, Parks hit a field goal to put the Dark team up by six points.
It was Parks’ lone basket in the game, to go with a number of rebounds.
From there, the Dark team held on for the victory.
Klabenes, who finished with 11 points and nine rebounds, was named the MVP for the game.
