Ord Ends Netters’ Season

O’NEILL — The 2011 volleyball season for Elgin Public-Pope John came to an abrupt end Tuesday night, Nov. 1, as the Wolfpack lost to Ord 10-25, 14-25 and 11-25 in the opening round of the C2-8 Sub-District tournament.

The Chanticleers, who went on to qualify for the state volleyball tournament, played some of their best volleyball of the season to defeat the Wolfpack.

Statistics tell the story of the final loss of the season. The Wolfpack had 29 dig errors in the match. Senior Carey Eischeid led the team in digs with 11, Chelsi Mescher had seven.

The Wolfpack recorded 11 kills in the match. Ashley Bode had four, Mescher and Lauren Selting each had three kills and Stephanie Bode added one.

Selting led setters with four set assists in the match, Brea Schrage and Mescher each had two and Stephanie Bode had one.

Ashley Bode had one ace block in the match.

Mescher was credited with four tips in the match, Marin Heithoff had three while Selting and Ashley Bode each had two.

Selting had the Wolfpack’s only ace serve in the match.

The loss dropped the Wolfpack’s record to 11-17.
