Nominations now being accepted for Aksarben pioneer farm, heritage awards

The Antelope County Ag Society (ACAS) announced last week that applications are now being accepted for the 2018 Aksarben Pioneer and Heritage awards.
According to ACAS Vice President Ed Pellatz, Each year at the county level, farm families can be awarded for land ownership for 100 or 150 years.
The Nebraska Pioneer Farm award honors families for 100 years of farm ownership
Eligibility requirements for the Nebraska Pioneer Farm Award are:
• A minimum of 40 acres that continues to operate as a farm or ranch
• Same family must have continuously owned for a minimum of 100 years
• Ownership from original buyer has passed through children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, through marriage or adoption
The Nebraska Heritage Farm award recognizes families for 150 years of farm ownership.
Eligibility requirements for the Heritage Farm Award are:
• A minimum of 40 acres that continues to operate as a farm or ranch
• Same family must have continuously owned for a minimum of 150 years
• Ownership from original buyer has passed through children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, through marriage or adoption
