New UMC Minister Likes Elgin Community

A new face is gracing the altar at the Elgin United Methodist Church (UMC). Sunday, July 5 marked the first service at Elgin officiated by Rev. Bonnie Linton-Hendrick. A native of Henderson, Kentucky, she says it was the ministry of her husband, Rev. Dennis “Buck” Linton-Hendrick, that brought them to Nebraska back in 1977.

The pastor openly admits she didn’t know anything about the area when she found out they were coming this way.  “I pretty much said “what?”, she says of  her response to Elgin being her new church home. Previous towns/churches that she has served in Nebraska include Ohiawa/Ong, Elsie/Madrid, Elwood/Bertrand/Eustis/Farnam and Elm Creek/Overton/Williamsburg.  Pastor Bonnie entered the ministry in 1996 and was ordained in 2001.
